If we learned anything from the game last night the over is within reach! Do not be fooled by the new league and the flashy logo (although I like it), tackling is going to become a huge issue; mark my words. The USFL put on a spectacle last night with two fired up teams in the New Jersey Generals vs. Birmingham Stallions. This time around we will see two of the other top teams the USFL has to offer.
Shea Patterson, quarterback of the Michigan Panthers had an impressive collegiate career at Michigan. The hometown hero returns in a revival of his football dreams entering the USFL as the number-one pick in the 2022 USFL draft! They also have a solid backup in Paxton Lynch who played his collegiate years at Memphis University.
Three players I think will shine in their debuts with the Michigan Panthers are (WR) Quincy Adeboyejo, (WR) Jeff Badet, and (TE) Joey Magnifico. Three hidden gems that will have a talented quarterback dishing the ball around like he did as a Wolverine.
For the Houston Gamblers they have a balanced offensive attack and I am excited to see how that plays out on the field. Clayton Thorson was their big pick in the draft and playing at North Western in college; I know he loves to scramble. Becoming a nightmare for inexperienced defenses.
Houston will have the help of (RB) Mark Thompson who has a thunderous running style. Helping (WR) Isaiah Zuber (who played his college ball at Kansas State), and a few speedsters at wide-out get open; as they are slightly undersized at the position.
