The Phoenix Suns (42-18) roll into Madison Square Garden to square-off against the red-hot New York Knicks (34-27) on a nine game win streak. Having all of us wonder when will the streak end?
The Line: Phoenix Suns (-138) vs. New York Knicks (+118)
Phoenix will be without Jae Crowder, D. Saric, L Galloway and A. Nader. While the the Knicks will be without A. Burks, J. Henson and M. Robinson. Phoenix enters on the fifth night of their Eastern Conference road trip. This will also be the second time they are playing back to back games on this road trip. I know this Suns team cannot wait to board that plane and make it home after this game tonight.
New York is playing to the level of their opponent and then some. Julius Randle has been on an absolute tear through this winning streak. Heroic efforts from Derrick Rose and even RJ Barrett shooting confident from three-point land make this Knicks team all the more fun to watch. What I take away from this Knicks winning streak is the fact they have found their identity as a collective. The Knicks are playing with a high-level of intensity on both ends of the court. The Knicks are buying into Head Coach Tom Thibodeau’s system and it’s paying dividends.
In their last two games Phoenix has faded deep into the second half. The Knick will continue to test this Suns team up and down the court tonight. Phoenix has great individual players in Miles Bridges, Chris Paul, Devin Booker and Deandre Ayton. However, they are not gelling like they should be given their record and distinction as a power conference team in the west. New York playing a slower pace and a better team defense will keep Phoenix’s shooters from maintaining their rhythm through ought this game. Another advantage New York has is team rebounding and even in mismatches the Knicks players are grabbing boards.
Preston’s Best Bet: New York Knicks +2 (-110)
I grabbed this spot early the line has since went up to +3 and has since moved back down to +2.5. Great value with either spot but I am completely confident in my best bet of New York Knick’s +2 tonight.
Fade or Follow? I’d love to know.
