The Line: Atlanta Braves (+135) vs NY Mets (-155).
My wager: OVER 6.5 total runs (-165). You won’t get many under picks from me. I love being on the side of rooting for an exciting high scoring game. However, I go with the data over my instincts. Jacob deGrom is set to have the role of SP tonight. deGrom is only expected to throw about 85 pitches due to a stiff back. Be on the lookout in case the Mets swap deGrom out for a new starting pitcher; that means you would have to redo your action. If all goes according to plan after deGrom goes out Atlanta’s improved hitting core will catch fire. Mike Soroka is getting the nod for SP for the Braves. Mets batters have done well against him in the past despite Soroka’s impressive roll he had on the road last year.
The Line: Toronto Blue Jays (+118) vs Tampa Bay Rays (-138)
My wager: TB Rays ML (-138). Toronto is set to have Hyun Jin Ryu the lefty as SP tonight. I anticipate him having a decent outing. From 2019 until this point Toronto is 15th overall in ERA surrendering 4.16 runs a game. Toronto has mediocre hitting; ranking dead last in MLB on base percentage (OBP). Tampa Bay Rays are planning to give the go ahead SP role to Charlie Morton. Morton had a 2.59 ERA at Tampa Bay last year in 17 starts. The numbers point to Morton having success against this Toronto lineup.
