Ryan Blaney in the #12 Ford Mustang is your Geico 500 Talladega winner! His car was not only tough all day but Blaney was able to pull off one of the wildest finishes in Talladega history! Blaney finished with 73.9 fantasy points on FanDuel.
Aric Almirola in the #10 Ford Mustang is a guy I have not given a lot of credit to. Took a chance on him in fantasy and he kept me in the green by placing 3rd at the finish line after a day he spent a majority of time in the middle to back of the pack. Almirola finished with 63.1 fantasy points on FanDuel.
Biggest surprise? Going with Ricky Stenthouse Jr. in the #47 Chevrolet! Stenthouse was aggressive all day and won the 2nd stage. Came close to winning the race but fell short and placed 2nd. This should be a notice to consider him on future superspeedways this cup season. Stenthouse finished with 68.6 fantasy points on FanDuel.
Alex Bowman in the #88 Chevrolet was having a good race leading 12 laps total. Cruising around the top ten most of the day. Pushing higher throughout the day finishing in 7th place. Bowman finished with 54.8 fantasy points on FanDuel
Who flew under the radar? None other than Ryan Preece in the #37 Chevrolet. Finishing 15th after starting 31st! Preece led 3 laps and was threatening to take the lead in the last stage multiple times. Preece finished with 53.4 fantasy points on FanDuel.
Still a sleeper pick … Tyler Reddick! Handling the #8 Chevrolet he won stage 1! Led 19 laps falling off at the end of the race possibly due to fuel management finishing 20th overall. Reddick finished with 40 fantasy points on FanDuel.
Disappointing: Seeing Chase Elliott get spun out by Keselowski and Austin Dillon having to pit because of the aftermath. Watching Jimmie Johnson get accidentally nudged by Kevin Harvick causing him to skid when he was closing in on the lead. Matt Kenseth not finishing. Kyle Busch having one of his better races in weeks then faltering. Martin Truex Jr. Staring in 1st place then never making it back the entire race.
Side note: Especially on Superspeedways remember who has solid pit stops and sound fuel management. Today it was 1, 2, 3. Blaney, Stenthouse Jr., and Almirola.
